Hotels
Edinburgh has a wide selection of hotels to suit every taste and every budget. There are the grand traditional hotels, boutique hotels, budget hotels, apartment hotels offering luxury, charm, minimalism, big rooms, small rooms and everything in between.
There are hotels spread all across the city and many others within a short distance of Edinburgh.
Prices vary according to the time of year, with the Festival period in August being the busiest time. Other large events such as rugby internationals or Christmas celebrations can put pressure on hotels and it is always a good idea to try to book well in advance.
You can use our Edinburgh hotels list to assist in your search for a hotel, and we are happy to answer any questions that you may have regarding hotels in Edinburgh and to assist with your booking if you would like us to do so.
B&Bs and Guest Houses
Bed and breakfasts (B&Bs) are usually family owned. A traditional bed and breakfast is a property where both the owners and their guests live under the same roof. Therefore B&Bs are almost always staffed.
A Guest house is a property where the owner or manager lives in separate quarters from the guests and so will have limited staff presence. Because of the limited staff presence check-in is often by appointment.
Self Catering
Self-catering apartments provide you with your own apartment in the city and there is a huge variety and choice of different apartments. They provide you with a home in the city. They will have a kitchen so that you can go shopping and prepare your own meals if you wish to do so and you will have to do your own housework and cleaning.
Serviced apartments are somewhere between a hotel and an apartment. The main difference is that your cleaning is done for you and sometimes meals are provided.
