Edinburgh city centre is fairly compact and walking is often the easiest way to get around. Many of the museums, galleries and historical sites are in the centre and much of the architecture is enjoyed best on foot.
Getting into the city centre, or visiting areas such as the port, the hills or the beaches may mean taking a bus or a taxi.
Edinburgh’s bus service covers the whole city and is efficient and safe.
If you wish to travel further afield, to the countryside surrounding Edinburgh or to another town or city then trains are often the best choice.
You will find some basic information on all of these services here, but please ask if you need any assistance from us with finding out more.
